John lewis

So as i sit here watching the genius Heston Blumenthal, i cant help but wonder if his thinking is like ours? well obviously he is a bit more 'food thinking' but all in all is still thinking right? Making great outcomes of what first is a boring product. Well i could be talking bollox here but all in all he produces great looking food! So rant over i would like to now comment on some recent adverts that i have seen over the past week or so.
First off, just recently an advert passed my eyes that was for john lewis, so in the past they have created some better adverts, one being the christmas advert showing people and the suggested presents to go with them. It was the first time an advert had aired with a Beatles song because now people can afford to buy then which made a change. The advert was subtle and was different from the hustle and bustle of the norm christmas adverts.

However aside this and the fact that its may and talking about christmas is far to advance i will now contribute to what i thought about the new john lewis never knowingly undersold advert 2010.

So the advert itself feel a bit familiar with the whole time line adventure goings on. It has previously been seen with hovis and im sure a few more. Reading the review on you tube about the advert makes me cringe a little inside, talking about how they sobbed watching this for the first time and how john lewis has been with them through thick and thin. However saying this it is obviously doing the right thing and talking to the right consumers. There is another great comment which i have found about the advert which really does sum it up in some respects, 'This is a great advert even if it does push all known emotional buttons like a bastard! Fair play to JL. Does it work for youngsters, I wonder? To wit, anyone much under 45?'
So does it? does it appeal to me being a 20 year old? maybe not so just makes me think, 'oh god i don't want to get old'
However people have many opinions and mine is a tiny gold fish in the north sea!
