Woooooooooop wooooooop

Two days left of our course. Its sad and exciting all at the same time. Hopefully we will get on the honours year and carry on with our education.

Theres been ups and downs throughout the two years that we have been on this course. We have had amazing experiences and hopefully that will not change.

Can't wait just to be able to hand in our work and get cracking with our final show.

Anyone and everyone is invited so if you want to come along comment our post and we will email the details.

Volkswagen Viral

I love the Volkswagen adverts they have and I was just browsing on you tube at random funny virals and adverts. When I came across this.

Some people have got far to much time on their hands to be creating things like this however its just as well they did. I think that this is something that people will definitely share and talk about.

I do not think this advert works because it has to much going on. I get what they are trying to say however I don't know whether the target audience would. As they would not spend as much time reading it. I always believe that if your going to explain something in an advert make it so people want to. I think it is not very creative and isn't a very big idea look at BMW have some great adverts. Some people may disagree but a lot of it is on personal opinion.

This one i believe is quite funny, I don't think its going to have people running out and buying a BMW however it makes me want to like the brand.

Vodafone

New advert for Vodafone! nearly made me cry!! AWWW so cute and unexpected for a mobile phone company!! Hats off to you! :)

As we have seen for the past few weeks Samsung have been teasing us with little snippets for the new 3d tv advert and eventually it has been released, and what an advert it is! Such a simple idea yet so effective and the fact that it was completed for real as an ambient stunt is even more points to the creators. My favorite is the cat and the waterfall. This is definitely a new era of technology and it was only time for a 3d TV to be released. One downfall to the whole thing is having to wear 3d glasses throughout the whole time your watching it. bummer indeed!
However i must mention when galavanting in london Heathrow waiting for a flight to new york (your jealous i know) we visited a sony shop who also stored the TV and it was amazing. Mind blowing and spectacular is only a few words to describe such beaut of a TV.
What's to come next? we can only imagine and barely wait!!

I love Peter Kay as a comedian but I think that these adverts are so funny. I don't think that they could of cast a better person to do it. Anyway I think these have to be appreciated because they seem to have died out which is a shame.

Good point from sarah there but also casting people for a advert is a very important job, i mean the wrong person could totally ruin the advert and make the client loose money. Take go compare for example, although highly annoying and not really worthy of a comment however, they could have easily cast a real italian opera singer but no instead the opt for a cheesy annoying fat british man! Any need?! We think not!

Rape crisis

So new day new start on a brief from Newhaven. Its all about rape crisis and the myths that surround the subject. A lot of our book at the moment is basically full of humorous campaigns and it was a joy to receive a brief of such. However this is a really serious subject so we cant get this wrong. Well we have some thinking to do....

Here is a really good press/ambient idea which really makes you stop and think.

Post it press idea

Saw this ad and thought it was amazing. You dont even need to think about it, it is so instant. It also prooves how useful post its can be. Plus you never know when you will be stuck in a situation like this so make sure you have your post-its at the ready.

Marmite!!

After the months of campaigning the LOVE party of marmite has won! Its been great to see the the lengths people have been going to. Since the branding of marmite has begun it has always been about 'you either love it or hate it' so what's a better idea to come across to get the general public to vote on this account. Its been so joyous to watch the adverts on the TV and also in newspaper. The campaign has been taken so far there was actual live debates....amazing. So far this has been one of my favorite campaigns that had been released this year however how on earth with marmite top this? Some serious thinking ahead. Check out this blog which documents throughout the campaign and vote. I didn't vote however but do contribute to the LOVE party most defiantly!!

John lewis

So as i sit here watching the genius Heston Blumenthal, i cant help but wonder if his thinking is like ours? well obviously he is a bit more 'food thinking' but all in all is still thinking right? Making great outcomes of what first is a boring product. Well i could be talking bollox here but all in all he produces great looking food! So rant over i would like to now comment on some recent adverts that i have seen over the past week or so.
First off, just recently an advert passed my eyes that was for john lewis, so in the past they have created some better adverts, one being the christmas advert showing people and the suggested presents to go with them. It was the first time an advert had aired with a Beatles song because now people can afford to buy then which made a change. The advert was subtle and was different from the hustle and bustle of the norm christmas adverts.

However aside this and the fact that its may and talking about christmas is far to advance i will now contribute to what i thought about the new john lewis never knowingly undersold advert 2010.

So the advert itself feel a bit familiar with the whole time line adventure goings on. It has previously been seen with hovis and im sure a few more. Reading the review on you tube about the advert makes me cringe a little inside, talking about how they sobbed watching this for the first time and how john lewis has been with them through thick and thin. However saying this it is obviously doing the right thing and talking to the right consumers. There is another great comment which i have found about the advert which really does sum it up in some respects, 'This is a great advert even if it does push all known emotional buttons like a bastard! Fair play to JL. Does it work for youngsters, I wonder? To wit, anyone much under 45?'
So does it? does it appeal to me being a 20 year old? maybe not so just makes me think, 'oh god i don't want to get old'
However people have many opinions and mine is a tiny gold fish in the north sea!
